In-person workshop Saturday, August 12th, 2023, at Norris Farmstead in Rockport, WA.

Limited to 50 registrants, this will be an intimate and hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to preserve a year’s worth of food for your family using 9 different methods. With hands-on demonstrations, safety information, recipes, and more!

This is a jam-packed workshop where you’ll leave knowing how to stock your pantry with healthy food no matter what. Plus, you’ll receive some preserving supplies to get you going immediately. See the full workshop description below for more detailed information.

Description

Now is the time to learn how to safely preserve food at home for a fully stocked pantry. In this full-day workshop, you'll join Melissa for a full day of food preservation.

You'll discover and learn:

  • The 9 different methods of home food preservation (water bath canning, pressure canning, cold storage (aka freezer), water bath/steam canning, pressure canning, dehydrating, fermenting, freeze-drying, root cellar, infusion, and salt/curing)
  • Essential equipment for each type of food preservation and Melissa's favorite personal recommendations.
  • How to safely operate a pressure canner and pressure canning demo
  • Secrets to old-fashioned preserving without store-bought pectin and low/no sugar options
  • How to make delicious and easy ferments – you'll be making a jar!
  • Dehydrating, both with and without a dehydrator
  • Freeze-drying- what you need to know about this newer method
  • Root cellar techniques without a root cellar
  • Troubleshooting and storing different types of food

Ticket is for one adult and includes a delicious, from-scratch lunch on the farm and some take-home preserving supplies. This is a hands-on learning workshop. You'll be in the garden harvesting fresh produce and then walking through different preserving recipes and techniques.

Workshop will be held rain or shine. All ticket sales are final, no refunds.
