Rinsehull, and chop strawberries. Mash lightly with a potato masher or fork for juicier berries. Sprinkle with sugar and allow to sit at room temperature for 2 hours. (If you're short on time, an hour will do.)
Pour into a greased muffin tin and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until center of cake is set. Serve with sweetened strawberries on top and a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
If you don't have a muffin tin, you can grease a 8x8 pan and bake for 40 minutes. Then cut into squares.
