Have you ever had God speak to you in a dream?

I have. And I’ve had many people ask me if their dream was from God. Let’s take a look at what the Bible says.

“He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds.” Job 33:15

I would encourage you to read verses 17 thru 19 as well. The word of God is very clear that He does speak to us in dreams.

I don’t think every dream is from God, but I’ve had several that I knew without a doubt were from Him. They have a different quality, a feeling, if you will. Some are scary. I’ve battled many a demon in my sleep. There’s something about the state of unconsciousness that allows our minds to be more perceptive to the spiritual world.

One form of dreams God gives us are dreams of warning. Job 33:16

A friend of mine shared this dream and granted me permission to share it with you. She’s a mother of four and here’s her story.

In my dream I watched the kids outside playing on our big dog house. They were about six, four, and two years old. This dog house is big, it’s actually insulated and we keep our goats in it right now. That gives you perspective on what kind of dog house it is. In the dream the sun warmed my face and the breeze toyed with my hair while I watched my kids play. Then suddenly my son began to fall off of the building. I ran to catch him.

The next day…it was a warm sunny day and the kids decided to get up on the dog house (it was something I always told them not to do if I was not there). I walked out side and then saw exactly what was in my dream from the night before. It all came flooding back to me. They were seated on the roof exactly as they had been in my dream. I ran towards the dog house, knowing that in my dream my son had fallen….as soon as I got there my son fell and I caught him.

I am convinced that I was shown what was going to happen to prevent him from getting hurt.

You might not realize the dream was from God until later, like my friend. But if it’s from Him, you will know when the time is right.

God cares about us, every aspect of our lives, even our sleep. He talks to us through His word, The Holy Bible, through our dreams, through other people, almost anything. We just have to listen.

We’ll continue this series and the different sort of dreams God uses and speaks to us with.

Has God ever spoken to you through a dream?
