Like any good pioneer, I have a hard time throwing anything out that I think still has purpose. I love coming up with ways to reuse or redo things.
A month ago I went to a garage sale. Our bed has been headboardless for six years. I kept thinking I’d come across the perfect thing. The day had finally arrived.
The headboard was solid wood, but had a very tacky coat of black paint. And by tacky, I mean sticky. If you touched it, your fingerprint remained.
I got it for FREE! I love a good deal.
I took it home and let it bake in the sun for four weeks. The paint finally dried.
Note: This was because I simply didn’t have time to do anything else with it, but the results were just what I wanted.
I planned on painting it white and with rain in the forecast, I had to do it in a hurry. Forgoing sanding or priming, I started spray painting with flat white indoor/outdoor paint from our local True Value hardware store. Thin coats work best and don’t paint on a windy day. I tried and more than half the paint blew away in the wind, thankfully, not any of our vehicles. Continue reading
